Logistical Planning and Phased Relocation. The scope of work necessitated the temporary relocation of over 100 planters, many of which were of substantial size and weight. To guarantee that the original garden design was perfectly preserved, our team implemented a meticulous inventory and tagging system. Each planter was individually cataloged before being safely shifted to one side of the rooftop, allowing us to adopt a highly controlled, two-phase approach to the structural work.

Installing a robust structure with new 8×2 structural joists and treated structural steels with a red oxide anti-corrosive primer to ensure long-term durability. Installing premium Millboard decking over the newly secured framework.
Once the first phase was completed, the planters were safely transitioned onto the new deck, allowing us to replicate the exact tear-down and rebuilding process on the remaining half of the roof.

Upon completion of the deck, our team utilised the initial inventory tags to reinstate every single planter to its precise original coordinates. The logistical constraints of this site were formidable. Throughout the project, we managed the extraction, safe handling, and disposal of approximately 15 tons of demolition debris.

Because traditional, manual transport of materials was virtually impossible given the site’s restricted access, London Roof Gardens coordinated specialised crane operations.
